7 Grandmasters (AKA The 7 Grandmasters)
Review by Andrew Allwander STORY: Jack Long is a kung fu master who has been given the title of champion of China by the emperor because of his honesty and good ethics and skill in kung fu and all his heroic acts. He plans to retire but at his party for the title an arrow is shot at the sign that says the title and the arrow has a letter tied to it that says he is not really the champion because he has not defeated all of the great masters in the other provinces. Jack Long agrees and decides to go on a mission and challenge every master of all the other styles to see if he truly is the best. He is too much of a good person to accept a title without being able to prove himself. Afterwards he plans to retire. Along the way he meets Li Yi Min who is a crazy foolish type of guy who wants to train so bad, after so much pressure to join and guts and never giving up Jack Long lets him train and he becomes his best student. Even his successor! After the master beats ever other master in the provinces he realizes he truly is the champion and plans to retire that day, but Li Yi Min is angry and was told that Jack Long killed his father and challenges him to a duel to the death. Jack Long insists he did not kill his father and that it was someone else. The guy who told Li Yi Min he killed his father is the true murderer. There is a big fight and Li Yi Min and Jack Long end up getting rid of the evil guy. This movie is totally cool and has a cool story and idea. The title says 7 grandmasters so YOU KNOW there has to be at least 7 fights!! There is a lot of fights and they are all great! Its fun to count down all the masters he beats. Whats so cool is most of the masters are sooo honorable it makes you go crazy and want to fight so much because they are all so respectful and are honored to have had the chance to be beaten by Jack Long! Totally awsome! Only a couple might have had bad attitudes. Also the end fighting is so great. This movie is cool because it uses the Pei Mei 9 strikes but the last 3 can defeat all of them! I couldnt figure out if there was 9 strikes or 12 because the kung fu manual got ripped apart and the evil guy learns the last 3 but Jack Long says he is master of the pei mei 9 strikes. Maybe there is 12 strikes. I don't know you watch it and tell me. What's cool is at the beginning when the guy's father is killed they mention that "Even while wearing the invincible armor you cannot live through the pei mei 9 strikes." Or something like that. I thought it was cool that they mentioned the invincible armor. Like acknowledging another art from another movie! THE MARTIAL WORLD ROCKS! Anyway this movie rocks and Jack Longs daughter is hot and she knows kung fu and she is nice. The other students are such jerks to Li Yi Min and treat him terribly because he wants to be a student so bad. Even Jack Long hits him once. But finally he accepts him and he becomes so great! One of the coolest scenes was when Li Yi Min gets his revenge and beats the CRAP OUT OF ALL HIS STUDENTS! All 3 when they sneak up on him to play a trick he beats them up with ease! It was so sweeet! Woo! You really feel happy about it and satisfied. There are a lot of awsome brutal blows and satisfying sound effects and cool kicks! I love this movie and I give it a 10 out of 10. |
